PRACTICAL SKILLS FOR REHABILITATION PROFESSIONALS
Professional training courses

Effective rehabilitation facility operation can only be achieved through the mobilization of a highly professional team of officers and prison guards. These skilled personnel manage all security, administrative, and rehabilitation operations. This means that they must be professionally trained and qualified to skillfully carry out routine operations, even when potentially dangerous situations requiring immediate de-escalation and containment occur.

BSW offers clients a full suite of professional training courses designed to provide staff with all the knowledge necessary to carry out their jobs both efficiently and effectively.

All BSW training courses are led by highly trained professionals and are tailored to the specific requirements of each individual prison service. The company provides the following training courses and tracks:

  • Basic security officer course: Training and certification of pre-selected staff meeting the required prison guard employment standards
  • Sergeant course: Training and certification of prison guards for the roles of Ward Sergeant and Correctional Sergeant
  • Officer training – administration track: Certifies trainees to work in administrative roles. Focus on the detailed analysis involved in making informed decisions within a complex correctional environment
  • Officer training – security and operations track: Certifies trainees to work as wing and shift supervisors. Familiarizes trainees with the components and complexity of the correctional approach during both routine operations and emergency events
  • Screening and contraband detection course: Certifies prison guards to carry out various screening and search processes based on population type (inmates, visitors, guards). Includes x-ray equipment operations, body search techniques, item inspection, and motor vehicle inspection
  • Command and control operators course: Provides participants with the requisite training in operational aspects of the various technological systems in the rehabilitation facility
  • Senior command training: Deepens senior commander’s professional understanding of the organizational and structural flexibilities within their correctional framework, while internalizing complex staff workflows.
