A survey of the security industry has highlighted the importance of embracing digital transformation to combat the rapidly evolving threat landscape. Over 200 senior physical security leaders from a range of industries participated in the study carried out jointly by Microsoft and Accenture.
The results showed that security organizations often fail to proactively tackle potential threats and base decisions on subjective information rather than hard data. Advances in social media compounded by an increase in climate catastrophes has created new security problems that cannot be resolved via traditional methods. Parts of the security industry are still lagging almost a decade behind when it comes to harnessing digital technology to combat threats.
Digital technology not only makes physical security more efficient but also generates a greater ROI. Dynamic identity management is particularly important as it reduces the reliance of access tokens, while big data and analytics are key to robust threat detection and investigation. The growth of the Internet of Things has highlighted the need for a combination of physical and cybersecurity measures to provide effective protection.
The Microsoft and Accenture report sets out three elements that are required for a company’s digital transformation: digital thought leadership, unified strategy, and persistent innovation. By focusing on these areas, security companies can improve the insights gained from physical security measures and enhance risk management accordingly.
BSWi understands the need for digital transformation within traditional security industries and offers a comprehensive suite of services to enhance physical and cyber environments. From smart access control and facial recognition technology to information and cyber security, we help companies to cope with the changes brought about by digital disruption and adapt their security measures to keep pace with new threats and technologies.
